Recently, the 2026 Dry Eye Rehabilitation Academic Annual Conference, the 9th West Lake Academic Exchange Conference on Dry Eye, and the Training Session on Standardised Development of Dry Eye Diagnostic and Treatment Centres were held in Chengdu. Organised by the Chinese National Health Association (CNHAW), the conference brought together experts from the field of ophthalmology across the country to discuss topics such as dry eye rehabilitation, ocular surface diseases, and the standardised development of dry eye clinics, showcasing the industry’s latest research findings and clinical practice guidelines.
Ye Jianzhang, Director of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Department at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, was invited to attend the conference. He engaged in in-depth discussions with industry experts on the latest developments and shared the hospital’s practical experience in establishing dry eye clinics and developing diagnostic and treatment systems, fully demonstrating the hospital’s professional expertise and industry influence in the field of ocular surface and corneal disease diagnosis and treatment.
Thanks to its standardised services and outstanding technical expertise in the field of dry eye diagnosis and treatment, the team at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital was awarded the national-level ‘Three-Star Dry Eye Diagnosis and Treatment Institution (2026–2028)’ at the conference. This certification was officially granted by the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Association of Ethnic Health.
The rating system for dry eye diagnosis and treatment institutions sets strict assessment criteria across multiple dimensions, including standardised diagnostic and treatment procedures, the provision of specialist equipment, the development of personalised treatment plans, and comprehensive patient management throughout the entire treatment cycle. As the highest-level certification within this system, the “Three-Star” designation signifies that the hospital has established a modern dry eye diagnosis and treatment system characterised by precise stratification, scientific classification and comprehensive intervention. It is capable of providing professional diagnostic and treatment services that comply with industry standards for patients with dry eye of varying aetiologies and severities, and has thus joined the ranks of the nation’s leading institutions in the field of dry eye diagnosis and treatment.
Committed to Clinical Innovation: Building a Comprehensive Dry Eye Care System Since establishing its Dry Eye Clinic in 2015, Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital has consistently dedicated itself to the field of dry eye diagnosis and treatment. Through standardised procedures, state-of-the-art equipment, a well-established diagnostic and treatment system, and high-quality clinical services, the hospital has built a comprehensive dry eye care system covering the entire treatment process, all types of dry eye, and all age groups. The hospital has created a one-stop professional dry eye diagnostic and treatment service. It was among the first in the Dongguan region to introduce comprehensive ocular surface analysis and confocal microscopy, alongside other dry eye examination equipment that meets international standards. These tools enable the precise detection of subtle changes in the ocular surface, providing a scientific basis for the classification and diagnosis of dry eye. Building on this foundation, Dongguan Aier has innovatively introduced the ‘Seven-Step Diagnostic and Treatment Method’, aligning with international standards and adhering to the core principles of ‘differentiated diagnosis and personalised treatment’. We continuously refine our treatment protocols to provide precise interventions for all types of dry eye patients: the Dry Eye SPA offers daily care regimens for patients in remission; intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy effectively stimulates meibomian gland secretion, suppresses inflammation and inhibits mite proliferation, with the hospital having treated over 30,000 cases to date; The Optilight IPL device delivers gentle energy and high comfort levels, making it suitable for those with sensitive eyes, as well as for all age groups from children and adolescents to adults and the elderly; Lipiflow thermal pulsed therapy has become a highly effective treatment for dry eye patients with concomitant meibomian gland dysfunction, with multiple technologies working in synergy to precisely match the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of different patients. 患者正接受干眼相关检查 Thanks to its solid technical expertise and clinical achievements, the Cornea and Ocular Surface Department at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital has received numerous accolades, including the ‘Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy Demonstration Award’, ‘Outstanding Clinical Training Base’, ‘Over 30,000 IPL Dry Eye Treatments Performed’, and ‘Over 3,000 Lipiflow Treatments Performed’.
