To further promote the standardized development of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for dry eye and ocular surface diseases in China, establish a professional platform for academic exchange, technology sharing, and talent development in the field of ophthalmology, and support the high-quality advancement of the discipline of ocular surface health, the inaugural 2026 Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Health Academic Exchange and Training Conference was grandly held in Guangzhou, Guangdong on May 23, 2026. Organized by the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences and hosted by the Guangzhou (International) Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Base, the conference brought together numerous authoritative experts and leading professionals in the field of ophthalmology from both within and outside the province. The event focused on core topics such as cutting-edge technologies, clinical diagnosis and treatment, patient-physician management, and talent development for dry eye and ocular surface diseases, featuring in-depth academic discussions and professional skills training. Concurrently with the conference, the Cornea and Ocular Surface Professional Academic Committee of the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences was established. It breaks down barriers to regional academic exchange and establishes a specialized, standardized, and systematic platform for academic discussion and technological advancement.

Thanks to his solid clinical experience, profound academic expertise, and outstanding achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and ocular surface diseases and dry eye, Ye Jianzhang, Director of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Department at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, was invited to attend this major academic conference. Following evaluation by the conference organizing committee and expert panel, Director Ye Jianzhang was successfully appointed as a Standing Committee Member of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Academic Committee at the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences, as well as a mentor in the Dry Eye Expert Training Mentor Group.
