0769-22660023 To further promote the standardized development of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for dry eye and ocular surface diseases in China, establish a professional platform for academic exchange, technology sharing, and talent development in the field of ophthalmology, and support the high-quality advancement of the discipline of ocular surface health, the inaugural 2026 Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Health Academic Exchange and Training Conference was grandly held in Guangzhou, Guangdong on May 23, 2026. Organized by the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences and hosted by the Guangzhou (International) Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Base, the conference brought together numerous authoritative experts and leading professionals in the field of ophthalmology from both within and outside the province. The event focused on core topics such as cutting-edge technologies, clinical diagnosis and treatment, patient-physician management, and talent development for dry eye and ocular surface diseases, featuring in-depth academic discussions and professional skills training. Dr. Ye Jianzhang, Director of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Department at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, was invited to attend and presented a professional topic.
Concurrently with the conference, the Cornea and Ocular Surface Professional Academic Committee of the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences was established. The formation of this committee holds significant importance for disciplinary development and industry advancement. Currently, eye conditions such as dry eye and ocular surface injuries have become highly prevalent in clinical practice. With an increasingly broad patient population and growing complexity of symptoms, these conditions place higher demands on standardized clinical diagnosis and treatment, long-term chronic disease management, and the development of a specialized talent pipeline. The establishment of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Academic Committee effectively consolidates high-quality expert, technical, and research resources in the field of ophthalmology—specifically in cornea and ocular surface medicine—across South China. It breaks down barriers to regional academic exchange and establishes a specialized, standardized, and systematic platform for academic discussion and technological advancement.
Thanks to his solid clinical experience, profound academic expertise, and outstanding achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and ocular surface diseases and dry eye, Ye Jianzhang, Director of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Department at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, was invited to attend this major academic conference. Following evaluation by the conference organizing committee and expert panel, Director Ye Jianzhang was successfully appointed as a Standing Committee Member of the Cornea and Ocular Surface Academic Committee at the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences, as well as a mentor in the Dry Eye Expert Training Mentor Group. He will join the region’s core team of experts in dry eye and ocular surface diseases to collectively shoulder the important responsibilities of academic exchange, technology promotion, and the training of young physicians.

Additionally, Director Ye Jianzhang delivered a specialized training session titled “Patient-Physician Communication and Long-Term Management Strategies for Dry Eye,” addressing key clinical challenges and industry difficulties. In clinical practice, dry eye is a chronic, recurrent ocular surface disease; scientific patient-physician communication and systematic long-term management are crucial for improving treatment outcomes, reducing recurrence rates, and enhancing the patient experience. During the session, Director Ye Jianzhang drew upon years of frontline clinical experience to clearly and concisely analyze common issues and core principles in doctor-patient communication for dry eye diagnosis and treatment. He provided detailed explanations of personalized long-term management plans for dry eye patients of different types and age groups, covering the entire process from condition assessment and medication guidance to lifestyle interventions, follow-up systems, and rehabilitation care. The lecture’s substantive content, clinically relevant practical experience, and highly targeted solutions received unanimous recognition and high praise from the attending experts and participating physicians.

Toward the end of the conference, led by Conference Chair Professor Zhou Shiyou, the entire team of attending experts visited the Guangdong Institute of Visual and Ophthalmic Sciences for an exchange. The experts toured the institute’s research platforms and clinical R&D facilities, engaging in in-depth discussions on scientific innovation in ocular surface diseases, technology transfer, academic collaboration, and talent development. This laid a solid foundation for future joint discipline development, technological exchange, and research translation.
Director Ye Jianzhang’s participation in this conference, his appointment to the committee, and his presentation not only represent high recognition of his professional capabilities by industry authorities but also serve as a powerful demonstration of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital’s comprehensive strength in the fields of corneal and ocular surface medicine and dry eye diagnosis and treatment. In the future, Director Ye Jianzhang will leverage the platform of the Professional Academic Committee to actively participate in the academic development, technological innovation, and talent cultivation of the ocular surface discipline. He will continue to deepen his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye and corneal/ocular surface diseases, constantly refining his skills, accumulating experience, and sharing research outcomes.
At the same time, Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital will continue to leverage its specialized strengths, actively engage with cutting-edge academic resources in the industry, and promote the implementation of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies in clinical practice. Through more standardized, precise, and high-quality ophthalmic medical services, the hospital is committed to safeguarding the ocular surface health of the general public.
