To further standardize the diagnosis and treatment of myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents, strengthen safety management of contact lenses, and promote academic exchange and technological dissemination in the field of optometry, a specialized training conference—the Academic Symposium on Myopia Prevention and Control in Children and Adolescents and Contact Lens Safety Management—was grandly held on March 26 at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital Affiliated with Jinan University. The event was organized by the Optometry and Oculomotor Specialized Working Group of Aier Eye Hospital’s Guangdong Region.



The conference was led by Dr. Fu Chengbin, Director of Optometry and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital and Head of the Guangdong Regional Optometry and Oculomotor Disorders Professional Group of Aier Eye Hospital. Special guests included Mr. Chen Zhao, General Manager of the Optometry and Pediatric Ophthalmology Division of Aier Eye Hospital Group, Dr. Duan Hucheng, President of Guangzhou Panyu Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Wen Longbo of Changsha Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Zhang Xiaoxiao of Guangzhou Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Li Jianhua of Guangzhou Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Ye Jianzhang of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Cai Jingjing of Foshan Aier Excellence Eye Hospital; Dr. Zhong Hui of Dongguan Humen Aier Eye Hospital; Dr. Yang Zhengfei of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital; and Head Nurse Yuan Shuqing of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, among other scholars and colleagues in the field of ophthalmology and optometry, attended the event to engage in in-depth discussions on core topics such as cutting-edge technologies for myopia prevention and control, and the safe management of contact lenses.

This conference centered on core academic sharing and key points of clinical management. Physicians took the stage one after another, delivering insightful presentations that combined professionalism with practicality. The content covered multiple critical areas, including contact lens safety management, cutting-edge myopia prevention and control technologies, and clinical diagnostic and treatment practices, providing valuable theoretical and practical support for the industry’s development.

At the start of the conference, Director Fu Chengbin, on behalf of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, extended a warm welcome and gratitude to all attending colleagues. He emphasized that myopia among children and adolescents has become a public health issue critical to the nation’s future, with a clear trend toward higher prevalence and younger onset, placing significant responsibility on optometry professionals. Director Fu pointed out that orthokeratology lenses are a crucial tool for myopia prevention and control. However, as a Class III medical device, safety is the absolute priority, requiring standardized fitting, follow-up, and care. This training aims to unify consensus, improve treatment outcomes, and strengthen standardization. He urged everyone to study diligently, engage in in-depth discussions, and apply what they learn in practice, and expressed his best wishes for the training session’s complete success.


Duan Hucheng / Director of Guangzhou Panyu Aier Eye Hospital


Director Duan Hucheng of Guangzhou Panyu Aier Eye Hospital took the stage first to provide an in-depth interpretation of the “Diagnosis and Treatment of Acanthamoeba Keratitis.” Drawing on his extensive clinical experience, he focused on analyzing the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and key diagnostic points of this type of keratitis, outlining a set of standardized diagnostic and treatment principles. He also placed special emphasis on the key preventive measures for contact lens-related infectious keratitis, providing practical and actionable guidance for frontline medical staff in the standardized diagnosis and treatment of such eye diseases.

Addressing the common issue of dry eye among contact lens wearers, Director Ye Jianzhang of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital drew upon his clinical experience to thoroughly analyze the intrinsic link between contact lens wear and the development of dry eye. He systematically explained the clinical diagnostic criteria, scientific intervention methods, and key points of daily care for dry eye, offering practical insights in an accessible manner to enhance wearing comfort and safety.

Director Fu Chengbin delivered two key presentations at this conference, combining professional expertise with practical applicability, which garnered widespread attention from attendees. In his presentation titled “Safety Management of Orthokeratology Programs,” he drew upon his extensive clinical experience to outline key safety management points throughout the entire process—from fitting and follow-up to care—emphasizing the critical role of standardized procedures and regular check-ups in safeguarding wearers’ eye health; Subsequently, in his presentation titled “Real-World 12-Month Effect Analysis of Dual-Action Lenses for Myopia Defocus and Higher-Order Aberration,” he presented detailed findings from a one-year clinical study. He analyzed the comprehensive advantages of dual-action lenses in both myopia control and visual quality optimization, and proposed a personalized myopia prevention and control philosophy that “balances prescription control with visual comfort.”

How to Establish a Scientific and Efficient Management Model for Safe Contact Lens Wear? Focusing on the theme “Exploring a Management Model for Safe Contact Lens Wear,” Yuan Shuqing, Head Nurse at Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, delved into innovative management approaches for safe contact lens wear by addressing common safety issues encountered in clinical practice. She proposed a scientific and efficient management plan, offering a fresh perspective to advance the industry’s standards for contact lens wear safety management.

Dr. Yang Zhengfei of Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital provided an in-depth interpretation of the “Expert Consensus on the Management of Early-Stage Myopia in Chinese Children and Adolescents.” Focusing on the intervention and management of early-stage myopia, she highlighted scientific methods for delaying the onset of myopia in children and adolescents and reducing the final degree of myopia. Drawing on clinical experience, she offered practical, actionable guidelines for the screening, assessment, and intervention of early-stage myopia, helping to achieve the goal of “early prevention and early intervention” for myopia.

Drawing on years of clinical fitting experience, Director Li Jianhua of Guangzhou Aier Eye Hospital delivered a practical presentation titled “Personalized OK Lens Fitting for More Effective Myopia Control.” Addressing key challenges in the fitting process, he outlined essential techniques for orthokeratology lens fitting, fitting evaluation methods, and solutions to common issues. His content was practical and highly actionable, offering useful guidance for enhancing clinical fitting expertise and ensuring fitting safety.

Dr. Zhang Xiaoxiao from Guangzhou Aier Eye Hospital shared the research findings from “Observation of the Efficacy of Microstructural Scleral Contact Lenses Combined with Low-Concentration Atropine Eye Drops in Controlling Myopia Progression.” Using detailed clinical data, she focused on analyzing the efficacy characteristics, target population, and precautions of this combined treatment regimen. Her research fully validated the significant advantages of this combined intervention in controlling myopia progression in children and adolescents, providing important reference criteria for clinicians selecting myopia prevention and control strategies.


Chen Zhao / Deputy Director of the Optometry and Pediatric Ophthalmology Division, Aier Eye Hospital Group


Chen Zhao, Director of the Group’s Division, delivered a technical presentation titled “The Application of VPR in Myopia Prevention and Control.” He provided a detailed introduction to the technical principles and clinical value of VPR (Wide-Field Retinal Refractive Topography), emphasizing the technology’s pivotal role in enabling precision and personalization in myopia control. This presentation charted a clear technical path for advancing myopia prevention and control from a “standardized” to a “personalized” approach.


Wen Longbo / Director of the Optometry Department, Changsha Aier Eye Hospital


Dr. Wen Longbo from Changsha Aier Eye Hospital presented a special session titled “Observation on the Efficacy of Orthokeratology Combined with Low-Concentration Atropine Eye Drops in Controlling Myopia Progression.” Drawing on multi-center clinical research cases, he used real-world data to validate the effectiveness and safety of this combined treatment regimen. This presentation further enriched the repertoire of clinical myopia prevention and control strategies, offering frontline physicians more options for their work.

In terms of the fitting process, Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital’s Orthokeratology Department is committed to providing a more professional fitting process and higher fitting standards. At Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital, the fitting of a pair of orthokeratology lenses is carried out by a five-member professional team, comprising a specialist physician, a professional fitter, a nurse, a dedicated customer service assistant, and a quality control expert from the Big Data Monitoring Center. The team strictly monitors the quality and safety of the process before, during, and after fitting, including follow-up examinations.


In terms of clinical services, the hospital has established an integrated pediatric eye health service system encompassing screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. Emphasizing the deep integration of clinical practice and academic research, the hospital has conducted numerous clinical studies and accumulated extensive practical experience. This enables it to provide patients with standardized, safe, and high-quality eye health services. The successful hosting of this academic conference yielded significant results. This effectively standardized the diagnostic and treatment processes for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents and elevated the industry’s practical standards; but it also disseminated practical knowledge—such as the proper use of contact lenses and early-stage myopia intervention—to attendees and the general public, thereby effectively strengthening the protective barrier for the eye health of children and adolescents.
